Eileen Melvin

Eileen Melvin founded Economic Development Strategies in 2000 to help communities revitalize and businesses build pubic/private partnerships.
Drawing upon her extensive experience in the public policy arena, Eileen guides her clients through government and economic development processes to achieve their goals. Eileen's energetic, results-oriented approach takes projects from vision through implementation, including the critical steps of strategy development, messaging, building community support, communicating with government officials, identifying and securing resources, and project implementation.
With a proven track record, Eileen has been instrumental in advancing diverse projects to their successful implementation for businesses, municipalities, and non-profit organizations. Her guidance has been vital to successfully redeveloping brownfields, expanding and relocating businesses, developing business parks, and improving community assets including hospitals, Main Streets and tourist destination.
Eileen's make-it-happen approach was honed during her more than twenty years in government and politics at the federal, state and local levels, and as a small business owner. Most recently Melvin served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania and a member of Republican National Committee. During the ten years of Eileen’s leadership at RSC, the GOP won many important elections, including Governor Tom Ridge, Senators Arlen Specter and Rick Santorum, majorities in the State Senate, House and Supreme and Superior Courts.
Eileen began her career at the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank in Washington, DC. She served as Legislative Aide to U.S. Senator John Heinz in Washington, D.C., specializing in Senate Finance Committee issues, and as a member of the Reagan Transition Team.
Eileen Melvin earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from American University in Washington, DC, a BA Summa Cum Laude from Boston College, and is a graduate of The Grantsmanship Center in Los Angeles, CA. Eileen serves as a Director of several growing companies in the alternative energy and health care fields. Eileen’s commitment to her community is evident in her service on numerous economic development and charitable boards in Somerset and Cambria Counties.
